Cheri Russell, also the owner, has over 35 years of equine experience.
Her first riding experience was at 7 years old. Soon after, her mom received an Arabian horse as partial payment for some work done and Cheri's love affair with Arabians was born. She started riding hunters and jumpers at Robinson's in Howe. Concurrently, she had a barn and boarding stables in LaGrange. The mid '70s, brought a move to Fort Wayne, and another stable with 6 horses at the corner of Dunton and Gump Roads. During this time, Cheri rode at Up N Over under Penny McIntyre. Next up was learning to ride flat saddle and western at Appel's and barrel racing from Nancy Hyatt. Dressage instruction under Yvonne Woods and Leslie MacDonald followed.
Russell's Rainbow Stables was established in 1979 at its current location. Cheri experienced several other Arabian barns in a variety of positions including groom, sales prep, and trainer before coming back to RRS. She has been a 4-H Leader, and has been giving riding lessons since 1979. She teaches a variety of disciplines, such as Dressage, Flat-Saddle, Hunter/Jumper and Western.
